HS Jennifer Castellano

“Reverie” for flute by Jennifer Castellano

About the Piece

This piece was composed in February 2003 and was written for a close friend of mine, Maria Mangino, who is also a flutist.  It was first performed at Manhattanville College in May of that year.  It is based on a three-note idea that develops throughout the piece.  The piece bears the title “Reverie” because I was in a half-asleep half-awake state when the ideas came to me.  This was one of the first “serious” pieces I wrote and it remains a favorite of mine.

It was later revised and performed by Ashley Murtha on September 30, 2007, as part of a concert project I presented during my graduate studies at the Conservatory of Music at Purchase College called Inspirations and New Creations.
